Anyone know what this tree might be and what those pods are? I’ve been googling popular trees in Southern Ontario but am not having much luck yet…..
The apples are starting to bud. I’m starting to think though that they are crab apples in which case they will be more of a mess than anythign else.
And something is enjoying our beans. Arg!
Ah. One of the most aggravating aspects of gardening — moochers! Perhaps your beans will survive and live to produce stuff you can enjoy!
It’s looking good but I don’t know what they are… they look lemony from here.
)
If you get rabbits in the garden they will your plants beofre moochers get a chance to nibble!
If they are crab apples, you can still make crab-apple jelly, or maybe apple jam……pleanty of recipes if you Google ‘crab-apple jelly recipe’.
Good luck and let us all know how you get on.
Nikki: We’re hoping. They’re looking pretty good and sprouting right up so I hope.
Daffy: When we first moved in we saw a rabbit twice in the early morning but not anymore. Not sure if he’s moved on or just changed his eating times, but there’s no “evidence” of rabbit in our yard. Which is kind of sad for me as I had one as a pet for many, many years.
Ip: I’m hoping they’re not crab apples. I think it would be really neat for the kids to be able to just go out and pick their afternoon snack right off the tree
. But if it is crab apples, I will definitely try to make something out of them.
